Thuy Trang

Thuy Trang ( Vietnamese : Trang Thùy ; born December 14, 1973 in South Vietnam ; † September 3, 2001 in Bakersfield , California ) was a Vietnamese - American actress .

Life

Thuy Trang's father was in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam . He asked for asylum in the United States after his path back to his family was cut off. In the USA he also tried to bring his family to the USA. In 1975 the family finally had to flee to Hong Kong with the seriously ill Thuy. After a year, the asylum application for his family was granted. Trang began practicing kung fu when she was nine, and after graduating from Banning High School, she was awarded a civil engineering scholarship to follow in her father's footsteps.

However, she was discovered by a talent scout and as a result, received some appearances in commercials . In 1993 she got the role of Trini Kwan in the television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers , which should actually be cast differently. In the second season, she left the series. She then had several small roles in the films The Crow and Agent 00 - With the License to Smile , as well as a video appearance in The Encyclopedia of Martial Arts .

Thuy Trang died on September 3, 2001 as a result of a car accident in which she was seriously injured. She was buried at a Buddhist ceremony on September 10th, which was also attended by her former power ranger colleagues. The episode “Loss of Confidence” by Power Rangers Time Force is dedicated to her.
