Thymus capitellatus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus capitellatus is a small shrub with a stature height of 20 to 40 cm. It has upright to protruding, woody stems in whose armpits there are tufts of leaves . These are 3 to 5 mm long and 1 to 1.5 mm wide. They are stalked, narrowly ovate and hairy tomentose. The leaf margin is rolled back and not ciliated.

The inflorescences are composed of almost spherical, often stalked cymes 6 to 8 mm in diameter. The bracts broadly ovate and greenish. The calyx is 3 to 4 mm long, bell-shaped, the upper teeth are about as long as they are wide and not ciliate. The crown is whitish.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.

Occurrence

The species is common in southwestern Portugal .
