Thymus piper ella is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus piperella is a small shrub with upright stems that are tomentose and in whose axils the leaves are in clusters. The leaves are 5 to 6 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide. They are leathery, not ciliate, clearly stalked, flat-edged, egg-shaped, blunt and hairless.

The flowers are loose and do not form a pronounced inflorescence . The false whorls usually consist of six to ten individual flowers. The bracts resemble the foliage leaves. The calyx is 4 to 6 mm long, the calyx tube is cylindrical, the upper calyx teeth are as long as they are wide and not ciliate. The crown is 7 to 10 mm long and purple in color, it has a narrow corolla tube.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28 + 0-1B.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in south-east Spain .

use

As a pebrella , the plant is one of the spices of Spanish cuisine and is used for example. B. used for fried meat, pickled olives and vegetable dishes.
