Ti-Jean-Petro

Ti-Jean-Petro is the Creole name of a destructive male loa (spirit) in African and Haitian voodoo .

Names

The German translation of the name is Little Hans of Black Magic . The same loa is also called Petro- [g] e-rouge (black red-eyed magic) , Ti-Jean-pie [d] -fin (Little Hans with the thin foot) , Prince Zandor (Prince Zandor) or Ti-Jean-Zandor ( little Hans Zandor) called. As an umbrella term, Petro is also the entirety of all destructive loa.

meaning

The worship of the loa can be traced back to the original Voodoo in West Africa . Obsession with him is said to show in passionate and violent behavior . He is compared to a ghost prowling through the bushes and portrayed as one-legged. He is said to be the lover of the equally destructive, female Loa Marinette , the most feared spirit being in voodoo. Ti-Jean-Petro is supposed to protect and help Bocors , voodoo priests who are active in black magic. Its symbol color is yellow .

In the novel When the Darkness Comes , original title Darkfall , by Dean R. Koontz , the loa is mentioned under the name Ti Jean Pie Fin as an assistant to the murderer and black magician Baba Lavelle.
