In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds, not just for the stone table resting on pillars (see: French nomenclature ). In addition to the simple form, more complex structures have also been built since the beginning (around 4500 BC).

Ti Ar Boutiged is enclosed by a long hill which was framed by curbs. Of them, only those on the north side are left. The chamber is 13.4 m long. A narrow entrance (80 cm) divides it into an open-topped vestibule about five meters long and an expanding room covered with three huge granite slabs , in which a central pillar is set up. Similar structures can only be found near Málaga in Spain ( Dolmen de Menga ).

Other V-shaped dolmens such as Keristin-ar-Hoat-Milieu in Concarneau , Crugou in Saint-Lyphard or Rhun in Treffiagat contained pottery from the later Neolithic .

The Ti Ar Boutiged dolmen is located in the mountains of the Monts d'Arrée , which have been inhabited since ancient times. Numerous worked flints and other dolmens are evidence of this era. The people of the Bronze Age , who also built tumuli here, found deposits of metal ores near Huelgoat.

This is also where Leïtan's alignment lies . The Osismier built the 32-hectare oppidum Camp d'Artus nearby .
