Tiago Guedes

Tiago Rocha Guedes de Carvalho (born June 20, 1971 in Porto ) is a Portuguese director .

Life

He graduated from the University of Fernando Pessoa in Porto with a bachelor's degree in advertising and worked in various advertising agencies from 1995. 1997–98 he attended a film workshop at the New York Film Academy . In 1997, he shot a first video clip for the Portuguese Independent - Pop band Sequoia. He has worked as a commercial filmmaker since 1998, but has also repeatedly made video clips for various bands, including Ornatos Violeta , Clã , Mão Morta and Moonspell .

In 1999 he completed his first feature film with the short film O Ralo and won a Pardi di Domani , a Golden Leopard for short films and young filmmakers , at the Locarno Film Festival . Other short films, television productions and feature films followed, many of which were also nominated for film awards: Guedes won a. a. at the Caminhos do Cinema Português festivals , the Toronto Youth Film Festival , the Newport International Film Festival , the Huesca Film Festival and the Cartagena Festival (Colombia) . His clip for the song Cão da Morte by the band Mão Morta won the audience award for the best music video at the Fantasporto Film Festival 2002. In 2006, he received a Globo de Ouro for his first full-length feature film Coisa Ruim (“Bad thing”), which he realized with Frederico Serra .
