Caminhos do Cinema Português
Caminhos do Cinema Português is a year in Coimbra held forming Film Festival , which is exclusively the Portuguese film is dedicated.
history
The festival was organized for the first time after the summer semester of 1988 by film students from the University of Coimbra as Mostra de Cinema Português (about "Film Show of Portuguese Cinema"), as a supplement to the lectures for foreign students. The festival was organized by the Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos ("Center for Film Research") of the cultural section of the Associação Académica de Coimbra student association , in collaboration with the Faculdade de Letras , the humanities faculty of the university. Films by Paulo Rocha , Luís Filipe Rocha , João César Monteiro and Manoel de Oliveira were shown .
Two more festivals followed in 1989 and 1990, which were also designed as thematic film shows without competitions. In 1990 the program was divided into three sections. In the O Documento section for the documentary film , films such as Trás-os-Montes by António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro , Belarmino by Fernando Lopes , and A Fuga by Luís Filipe Rocha were shown. In the O Texto ("The Text") section for the literary film adaptation, a. a. Amor de Perdição (Manoel de Oliveira), Conversa Acabada ( João Botelho ) and Crónica dos Bons Malandros (Fernando Lopes). The division O Imaginário ("The Imagination") presented Verdes Anos by Paulo Rocha, Um Adeus Português by João Botelho u. a.
It wasn't until seven years later that the Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos organized the next event, no longer as a Mostra , but as a festival . The IV. Caminhos do Cinema Português ("Paths of Portuguese Cinema") showed an expanded selection of Portuguese films in 1997 and from then on paid special attention to new and little-shown works.
With the V. Caminhos do Cinema Português 1998 it also became a functional festival: for the first time films were shown here in competitions, and an international jury awarded prizes for the first time. An audience award was also given. Sections for film schools and events for kindergartens and elementary schools were added later.
Since 2003, workshops and colloquia with critics and filmmakers have also been held as part of the festival .
In 2011 a total of 120 films were shown, 70 of which were in competition.
