Tianjin Airlines ( Chinese 天津 航空 ) is a Chinese regional airline based in Tianjin and based at Tianjin Airport .

history

Grand China Express Air emerged from the merger of the regional fleets of the companies Hainan Airlines , China Xinhua Airlines , Chang An Airlines and Shanxi Airlines . In 2007, it received an operating license from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Flight operations began in May 2007 with 29 Dornier 328-300s , which were taken over by Hainan Airlines. This made it the largest regional airline in China right from the start and in 2008 it operated 78 routes to 54 cities in China. On June 10, 2009, the airline was renamed by the HNA Group in Tianjin Airlines. As a result, the flight network was expanded to 450 routes to 90 cities by 2012. Tianjin Airlines is 80% owned by HNA Group and 20% owned by Hainan Airlines.
