Tiberio Murgia

Tiberio Murgia (born February 5, 1929 in Oristano , † August 20, 2010 in Tolfa ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Murgia was born in poor conditions in Sardinia and after a time worked as a salesman for the communist newspaper Unità and as secretary of the youth organization of the KPI in a Belgian coal mine. He then moved to Rome and earned his living as an assistant in a restaurant, where he was discovered in 1958 by Mario Monicelli, who found the ideal cast in him for a role in Thieves Have a Hard Time. From then on, Murgia specialized in his more than 110 roles in the portrayal of the small, cunning, often somewhat slow Sicilian worker or a small crook.

Murgia often worked with Walter Chiari and Ugo Tognazzi , in the 1970s he was often a partner of Italian comedy actors in the then flourishing erotic comedies. He was active until shortly before his death from the effects of Alzheimer's disease . He also worked for television and made commercials.
