Tibiotarsus
Tibiotarsus ( plural : Tibiotarsi) is the lower leg bone of birds and some groups of dinosaurs , which emerged from the fusion of the shinbone ( tibia ) with the upper row of the tarsal bones (tarsi: astragalus and calcaneus ).
A structure called “tibiotarsus” is also found in the invertebrate arthropods (Arthropoda). Within this group, the Sackkiefler (Entognatha) and the larvae of the Polyphaga have a tibiotarsus.
