Stummer-Traunfels , 1891

As entognatha (Entognatha) the combined group is Beintastlern , double tails and springtails within the Sechsfüßer mentioned. The reason for this taxon formation is a mouth pocket in which the mouthparts are located and which is present in all three groups. The pocket is formed by lateral folds of the head capsule , which is fused with the ( labium ) towards the rear . As a result, the mandibles and maxillae are drawn into the head capsule and are usually modified into piercing and spatula tools.

The Sackkiefler are compared to the Freikieflern (Ectognatha) as a sister group . Within the Entognatha, the springtails and the leg tails are combined as ellipura and contrasted with the double tails. The main arguments for this group, along with various other reduction features, are the lack of abdominal appendages and the fusion of the lower leg ( tibia ) with the foot ( tarsus ) to form the tibiotarsus.

The Sackkiefler are not undisputed as a taxon, especially the position of the double tails within the six-footed has not yet been fully clarified and is discussed controversially. Although the most common classification of double tails takes place within the Sackkiefler, there is at least one alternative hypothesis (Kukalová-Peck, 1987). According to this, the Diplura alone could also be viewed as a sister group of the insects, while a common taxon called Ellipura could in turn be viewed as a sister group of these two groups. As a causative feature that is here evolutionarily different number of the leg parts considered that with the abdominal plates of the abdomen are fused. However, this feature and with it the hypothesis are very controversial. If this hypothesis is true, the Sackkiefler must be resolved as a taxon.
