Tibor Barkoczy

Tibor Barkoczy (* 1952 in Budapest , Hungary ) is a Hungarian jazz pianist and composer. Since the 1980s he has mainly lived and worked in Vienna .

biography

Tibor Barkoczy learned to play the piano at the age of six. At the age of 12 he began studying classical piano at the Budapest Liszt Academy .

During his classical training, Tibor Barkoczy discovered his passion for jazz. He pursued this with a jazz degree at the Bela Bartok Jazz Conservatory in Budapest, which he graduated with honors in 1974. While touring across Europe with his jazz band , Vienna increasingly became his artistic home, where he settled in the 1980s. Tibor Barkoczy's music is a diverse mixture - he is inspired by different genres such as jazz , pop music , funk or soul and always reinterprets them in his performances. He is known for his lively jazz interpretations.

During his work in Vienna he created band and CD projects in collaboration with ! Deladap , Louie Austen ("Easy Love") and the last album Jengis & Tibor "Heart and Soul" (2007). Tibor Barkoczy is currently playing with his daughter Melinda Stoika and Helmut Neugebauer in the jazz formation "Strictly Confidential".
