Tibor Meingast

Tibor Meingast (* 1959 in Fulda ) is a German journalist.

Since 1991 he has been a member of the sports department of ZDF and reports from the Bundesliga as well as world and European championships . He has been a commentator for water polo and shooting sports at the Olympic Games since 2004 . He began his television activity in 1985 with the Hessischer Rundfunk; from 1975 he worked for the Fuldaer Zeitung and the Gießener Anzeiger.

He occasionally writes for print media such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , Die Zeit and 11 Freunde and has published several books for Klartext-Verlag and Die Werkstatt . In his book Der Zeuge von Lens (2011) he worked on the story of the French policeman Daniel Nivel , who was almost beaten to death by German hooligans during the 1998 World Cup . In 1983 and 1988 Meingast took both state exams , but never worked as a lawyer.

Meingast is married, has four children and has lived in Bottrop since 1994.
