The Tiefwarensee is located on the northeastern outskirts of Waren (Müritz) in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg. A 300-meter-wide land bridge separates the lake from the Binnenmüritz in the southwest . The lake is a glacial channel lake , embedded in a meltwater channel created during the Ice Age, which comes from the north and extends into the Müritz. It has a pronounced bay in the south. It is approximately 2600 meters long and 780 meters wide. Waren city center is located on the south bank of the lake. As a result, the lake plays a central role as a local recreation area for goods. There is a canoe and boat rental on the lake and fishing is permitted. The Tiefwarensee is part of the Torgelower See nature reserve , its northeastern bank is part of the Ostufer Tiefwaren - Falkenhäger Bruch nature reserve . Motor boating and windsurfing are prohibited. Once around the Tiefwarensee there is the ten kilometer long ice age educational trail Tiefwarensee . This can be circled on foot or by bike.
