The group is currently also doing business with financial and industrial capital. The head office is in Tianjin , a port city in the People's Republic of China .

activity

The group was founded in 1995 by Li Jinyuan and at the beginning of its existence had to deal with great difficulties in establishing and expanding. From the spring of 1998 he was able to establish himself on the world market . His first business activity was the export of Chinese medicines , calcium tablets and coffee powder . Today, an assortment of specially produced foods , medicines, dietary supplements and cosmetics generates the majority of sales.

The products reach the end users directly through around 9 to 12 million direct sellers worldwide without intermediaries or resellers. In 2009, 16 million customers in 190 countries were regularly supplied. Most of the customers live in the Russian Federation and 60,000 customers in Germany .

With the second business model, recommendation marketing (also called multi-level marketing ), Tiens has its products sold to end customers via independent consultants. The consultant can be a middleman or reseller, or even just hold an intermediary position. Tiens says it employs more than twelve million direct sellers worldwide. In Germany, over 40,000 technical advisors are registered with Tiens. The number of middlemen, on the other hand, is largely unknown. Tiens has 5,000 permanent employees, 35% of whom, according to the company, have a master's degree.

Tiens donated according to their own statement in the past 200 million US dollars to charitable causes and to social institutions.

At the beginning of May 2015, CEO Li Jinyuan traveled with around 6,400 employees on the occasion of the 20-year partnership with the French region of Côte d'Azur on a four-day holiday to France and visited Paris, Monaco, Nice and Cannes. The employees were quartered in 140 hotels and traveled with specially chartered TGV trains.

criticism

Former Tiens employees say that the products they sell are medically ineffective. In addition, the appearance of the company president Li Jinyuan and the almost personality cult around his figure are heavily criticized.
