Bardot

In 1999, Wood auditioned for the first season of the Australian series Popstars . She was unsuccessful, but was later selected as a replacement for Chantelle Berry , who had dropped out under controversial circumstances, as a member of the new girl group "Bardot". Popstars was one of Australia's most popular television programs in 2000. The first single Poison and the self-titled debut album by Bardot reached first place in the ARIA charts. The following singles I Should've Never Let You Go and These Days hit the Australian music charts . In August 2000, Bardot went on her first national tour. Wood also played with her bandmates at the ARIA Awards in 2001 where they were nominated in three categories.

Solo career

Like her former bandmate Sophie Monk , Wood began a solo career and signed a recording deal with Warner Music Group . Her debut single What RU Waiting 4 brought Wood onto the music scene as a pop-rock singer. The song reached number 27 on the ARIA charts in March 2004 and was one of the most played songs on Australian radio that month. Behind the scenes, however, there was tension between Wood and Warner Music. After being unable to reach a compromise, Wood decided to terminate her recording deal.

After leaving Warner Music, Wood started her own record label. The first single Devil in Your Soul was released in July 2005. In April 2006, Wood released their second single, Spin the Bottle, with a number of appearances, including on Seven Network .
