Tiffany Knight

Tiffany Marie Knight (* 1975 ) is an American biologist and ecologist .

Life

Tiffany Knight is the daughter of Susan Knight, née Ortino. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Florida State University in 1997 and her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003 . She then did short postdoctoral stays at the University of Florida at Gainesville and at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis at the University of California, Santa Barbara . She then became Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Washington University in St. Louis and Research Associate at the Botanical Gardens of Missouri and Chicago .

She was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship in 2016, has been working at the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research Halle-Jena-Leipzig (iDiv) as a research group leader in the Spatial Interaction Ecology department and teaches as a professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . Tiffany Knight is also funded by the Helmholtz recruiting initiative of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers . She is a member of the Ecological Society of America , the Botanical Society of America, and the Sigma Xi Association .

Tiffany Knight is married to the ecologist Jonathan Chase , who has been a computer science professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since 2014 and who heads the biodiversity synthesis research group at the iDiv. Knight and Chase worked together as a married couple at Washington University's Tyson Research Center back in 2011. Currently (as of 2016) they live in Leipzig and have a son and a daughter.
