Söderhielm made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup over 15 km freestyle in Gällivare in November 2006 and reached place 82. In December 2006 he achieved his first top 10 result in the Scandinavian Cup over 15 km freestyle in Vuokatti . In March 2007 Söderhielm started two races of the Balkan Cup near Bursa and was third there over 10 km classic and won over 15 km freestyle. In November 2009 he ran at the World Cup in Beitostølen as the starting runner of the Swedish relay, which finished the race in sixth place. Söderhielm achieved his first World Cup points in November 2013 at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo , where he classically achieved 23rd place on the second stage over 10 km. In the Scandinavian Cup he achieved his best result in February 2010 in Gjøvik , where he finished fourth in the 30 km mass start race in the classic technique. In 2010, 2018 and 2019 he became Swedish champion with the Åsarna IK relay .
