Tiko United is a Cameroonian football club based in Tiko , which plays in the Première Division , the country's top division.
history
The club was founded in the early 1960s as CDC Tiko by the Cameroon Development Corporation. Until the 1980s, however, it ceased funding step by step and tea production, one of the main branches of the company, was taken over by a citizens' cooperative. The club was then renamed Tiko United.
In the 2008/09 season , the club’s men's team won the championship title in Cameroon’s top division for the first time in around 50 years of club history and thus automatically qualified for a place in the 2010 CAF Champions League, which ran from February to November 2010 . The team came into the first round of the Champions League after a 2-2 draw in the first leg and a 5-3 penalty win after another 2-2 draw in the second leg against the Burundian club Vital'O FC in the preliminary round . There the team was eliminated from the current competition after a 2-2 draw in the first leg and a 1-1 draw in the second leg due to the away goals rule against the Nigerian representative Heartland FC . In the 2009/10 Cameroonian season , third place in the table looked out for the club's men's team.
