Tile Brandis (born February 1, 1511 in Hildesheim ; died September 29, 1566 there ) was a German historian , local politician and Hildesheim mayor .

Life

Tile Brandis was one of the sons of the Hildesheim mayor Henning Brandis , son of the cloth merchant Hans Brandis (1415–1481) and Ilsebe, daughter of Henning Winkelmann (died 1477); and his third wife Adelheid (born November 12, 1508), daughter of the mayor Hans Blome from Hanover .

Tiele was elected mayor of the city of Hildesheim several times, similar to his younger brother Joachim Brandis the Elder (1516–1597).

In his annals , Tile Brandis summarized his father's notes from 1513 and added his own experiences from 1528. Like his father's records, those of Tile Brandis are believed to be reliable.

Brandis died of the plague in Hildesheim in 1566 .

family

In addition to his widow, Brandis bequeathed his sons “Dr. Henning Brandis [1538–1582], Magister Jobst Brandis [1542–1589] and Hans Brandis [1534–1584] ”and the daughter Elisabeth [1544–1589]. These were involved in a legal dispute regarding inheritance disputes, in which, among other things, the administrator and mayor of Einbeck Andreas Olemann (1515-1604) and the heir Hans Dieck (Hans Teich; died 1565) were involved.
