Tilla Theus

Tilla Theus (* 1943 ) is a Swiss architect .

Life

The daughter of a politician comes from Chur in Graubünden . She studied architecture at the ETH Zurich . After graduating, she opened her own studio, since 1985 as Tilla Theus und Partner AG.

She specializes in the project planning and execution of new buildings in a demanding urban context, in the reconstruction and renovation of listed objects as well as in interior architecture and room design . For example, she equipped the aircraft of what was then Swissair in business and first class. It gained international attention with the renovation of the Widder Hotel in Zurich and the new FIFA headquarters .

Since 1974 she has been a member of the Commission for Monument Preservation of the Canton of Zurich and since 1989 a member of the Supervisory Commission of the Liceo artistico , Zurich and Rome. In 1997 she became vice-president of the SIA group for the preservation of buildings. In 2004 she was elected to the Federation of Swiss Architects BSA.

In 1980 and 1984 it received the City of Zurich Award for Good Buildings . Theus is often referred to in the media as a “star architect”.
