Tilmann Bechert
Tilmann Bechert (born January 24, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German provincial Roman archaeologist and historian.
Tilmann Bechert studied history and archeology of the Roman provinces at the University of Heidelberg . In 1968 Bechert was appointed to the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Frankfurt a. M. to Dr. phil. PhD. His excavations and investigations in Moers- Asberg / Asciburgium , which he carried out from the late 1960s to the early 1980s as an employee of the Lower Rhine Museum of the City of Duisburg , were trend-setting . In particular, he succeeded in finding traces of a military camp from the early days of the Roman occupation. From 1994 to 2003 he headed the Duisburg city archeology. He founded the series of publications "Finds from Asciburgium", which the city of Duisburg is now continuing to publish.
