biography

Tim Cierpiszewski studied philosophy at the University of Duisburg-Essen from 2001 to 2003 . From 2003 to 2009 he studied fine art at the Art Academy in Münster (with Maik and Dirk Löbbert ). He has been a master class student since 2007.

Tim Cierpiszewski is a conceptually working artist, for whose analysis two questions are essential: First, how can contemporary image or art production take place under the given (art) historical, (art) theoretical and (art) technical conditions, and secondly How can pictures or art be adequately presented in the context of the exhibition.

In this regard, he is initially interested in the production of our collective social image awareness, the World Wide Web. This acts as the starting point for an extensive, own image archive, which in turn forms the basis for image samplings and remixes . For such a work process that almost seems musical, the artist uses the possibilities of various computer programs in order to create a complex pictorial cosmos, which as such ranges from extremely overloading to extremely reduced works. For the presentation of these digital, often non-representational works, Cierpiszewski embeds them in architecture-related room installations, using wall designs, sculptural displays, panel paintings and book works and the artist's interest in flexible, dynamic, i.e. time-related elements of the visual arts clarified more.
