Tim Eicke

Tim Eicke (born July 27, 1966 in Hanover ) is a British - German lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Eicke studied law at the University of Passau from 1986 , but moved to the University of Dundee in 1988 , where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in English law in 1992 . He has been a barrister in Great Britain since 1993 . Since 2001 he has been a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn , one of the four English bar associations, and through this activity has acquired in-depth knowledge in the areas of constitutional law, European law, international law and international human rights protection. He is now considered one of the UK's leading experts in these fields. He has been a Crown Attorney since 2011 and a Bencher at Lincoln's Inn Court since 2014. In 2017 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Dundee University .

In June 2016, Eicke was elected judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Paul Mahoney as representative of Great Britain. He began his term of office, which is expected to last until 2025, on September 12, 2016.
