The landscape protection area Timmerlaher Busch, Gleidinger Holz and adjacent parts of the landscape consists of the contiguous mixed deciduous forest areas Timmerlaher Busch and Geitelder Holz as well as their adjacent arable land and is located in Lower Saxony in the Peine district and the city of Braunschweig .
The Gleidinger wood to the west is around 70 hectares and is registered with the Peine district under the LSG PE 41 label. The Timmerlaher Busch area covers around 140 hectares and is marked LSG BS 13. The area details include the adjacent corridors.
- Location and land procurement
The area lies between the municipality Vechelde belonging Klein Gleidingen the west and the Braunschweiger districts Lamme in the north, Timmerlah in the South and the West City in the east. This is followed by the much smaller Broitzemer Holz (LSG BS 005) and the Westpark with extensive green and local recreation areas. The Raffteich natural monument is located in the northeast . In the south-east the development of the western city and in the south that of Timmerlah extend to the protected area. In the remaining areas, the area is surrounded by arable land.
The soil consists of loess deposits from the Saale glaciation around 300,000 years ago.
- Gleidinger wood
The forest area is about 40 hectares. The protected area in the district of Peine contains the arable land to the north of both forest areas up to the Großer Graben and to the Raffteich area and thus almost doubles the area. The Gleidinger wood is a mixed deciduous forest used for forestry. The Große Graben rises on the border of the two forests and is a tributary of the Aue (Erse)
- Timmerlaher Busch
In addition to the forest area with around 90 hectares, the protected area also includes the arable land lying south of both forests, which extend to the K56 county road or to the outskirts of Timmerlah. The Timmerlaher Busch is also a mixed deciduous forest area used for forestry, in which predominantly beech and ash trees grow. In the east remains of the old Braunschweiger Landwehr , which demarcate the forest from the Broitzemer wood, are preserved. Separated by a farm road, the green areas of allotment gardens and Westpark are connected to the northeast, and there is a high ropes course in the forest near the Raffteich.
