Timo Schaffeld (born March 29, 1996 in Oberhausen ) is a German amateur triathlon athlete and an officer in the German Air Force.

Career

Timo Schaffeld came to triathlon in 2013.

In July 2018 he won his age group on the long distance at the Ironman Hamburg and thus qualified for a starting place at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

His greatest success so far was winning the world championship for the 22-year-old in the 18-24 age group at Ironman Hawaii 2018 (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running), where he finished with 8:51:50 h set a new course record.

Timo Schaffeld is studying industrial engineering at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg .
