The Tiriyó , also known as the trio , are an indigenous people of South America . They live in the Brazilian state of Pará , especially in the Tumucumaque National Park , there since the late 1960s, and in the south of Suriname , in the Sipaliwini district , here and there. a. in Kwamalasamutu . Their number was estimated at around 2000 tribesmen in 2005. The indigenous mixed area Parque Indígena Tumucumaque is their main habitat, which they share with Aparai , Katxuyana , Wayana and the isolated Akurio and those from the Rio Citaré.

Their language is also called Tiriyó and belongs to the Caribbean language family .
