After attending school in Oettingen, Tita Giese studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg , then at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There she met her husband, the artist Imi Giese . The marriage produced a daughter.

In her artificial landscapes, Tita Giese works with weeds , pioneer plants , grass-like and exotic plants. In doing so, it uses a great diversity of species and is not limited to the “streamlined program” available to municipal gardening authorities.

Plant projects by Tita Giese in public space are, for example, "Central American traffic islands " on Stresemannplatz in Düsseldorf , plant islands on the Düsseldorf millipede and hanging gardens in the Fünf-Höfe shopping arcade in Munich. With the latter, she is in the tradition of Patrick Blanc . In the literature, Giese is referred to as an artist or plant artist, which she strictly rejects.

Plant communities in the wild form the basis of Tita Giese's work. Their basic patterns are repeat , wallpaper and endless repetition, which give the surfaces intensity and their own aesthetic.

Giese worked with the painter Henning Straßburger for the Kottbusser Tor plant project in Berlin, and also with the architects Herzog & de Meuron .
