Tito Paris (born June 30, 1963 in Mindelo , São Vicente , Republic of Cape Verde ) is a Cape Verdean singer and musician (guitarist). He is an important representative of Coladeira and, along with Teofilo Chantre and Cesária Évora, one of the most famous representatives of Cape Verdean music.

Life

Tito Paris, born in Mindelo, Cape Verdean music capital, has been making music since he was 10 years old. In order to be able to fulfill his dream, the boy from a poor family home had to borrow instruments or get them from his uncle, who was an instrument maker. In 1980 he had his first arrangement with a band that was very famous in Cape Verde, called " Os gaiatos ". In Portugal he finally became a member of an exile band of Cape Verdeans living there, of which he was a member from 1982 to 1985.

During his music career he played concerts in Portugal, France ( Cannes ), New York City , Boston , the Netherlands and Brussels .

He sings his songs mostly in Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese . As a composer, he also wrote songs for Bana and Cesaria Evora.

Today he is the owner of a restaurant and lives in Lisbon .
