Tixi
Tixi Fahrdienst for people with a disability are non-profit, politically and denominationally neutral associations for all mobility-impaired people in the Swiss cantons of Zurich , Aargau , St. Gallen , Zug , Lucerne , Glarus and Appenzell , who do not use public transport or only use it under difficult conditions can. The transport service is offered at tariffs that are comparable to those of public transport, in Zurich for example the zone tariff of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund .
The origin of the name Tixi can no longer be proven with certainty, the name probably comes from the word taxi (the vehicles were sometimes called Tixi-Taxi , which depending on the club is not popular because it arouses false associations).
The association in the canton of Zurich has existed since October 1983 and bears the seal of approval of the Zewo Foundation . In 2010, Tixi Zurich drove more than 1 million km in the public transport area of the Canton of Zurich with over 400 volunteer drivers in over 50,000 missions. From 2005 to 2008 Doris Fiala Tixi promoted Zurich for 100,000 francs and came under fire for the amount invoiced.
