Tiya is a village in central Ethiopia , south of Addis Ababa near Melka Awash and the Hare Shetan crater lake. It is located in the area of ​​the Soddo - Gurage in the Woreda Sodo in the Gurage zone of the region of the southern nations, nationalities and peoples .

The most important of the 160 archaeological sites discovered so far in the Soddo area is located near Tiya. The site consists of 36 individual monuments, 32 of which are stone steles covered with symbols of an ancient Ethiopian culture. Since 1980 she is part of the UNESCO - World Heritage Site .

In 2005, according to the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia, Tiya had 3,363 inhabitants. In the 1994 census, 1,856 residents were counted, of which 59.11% were Oromo , 32.76% Soddo-Gurage and 4.69% Amharen . 41.81% spoke Soddo as their mother tongue, 36.1% Oromo and 20.04% Amharic .
