Tjehenu Ṯḥnw Northern Libya |
Tjehenu , as an ancient Egyptian name for a northern Libyan region, is attested for the first time in the predynastic period on the “ Libyan palette ” ( Scorpio II ), among other things .
In the reigns of Amenhotep II and Amenhotep III. date the mentions of Tjehenu as "enemy land" in the tomb of Kenamun ( TT93 ) or tomb of Anen ( TT120 ). In the Abydenean list of place names of Ramses II , Tjehenu is recorded as "northern enemy country". Due to the story " Odyssey of Wermai " and the mention of Merenptah , Tjehenu was probably west of Chasuu :
“I went to western Tjemehu , then to the land of Tjehenu, and walked through this part of Egypt until I came to Chasuu. (Then) I went to Tura . I then reached the district of Per-Medjed and after a brisk journey on both banks of Upper Egypt entered the great oasis . "
Tjehenu is documented as an enemy of Egypt, among other things in the battle of Sais as an ally of the attacking countries. Mid-March 1208 BC During his construction work in the eastern delta , Merenptah received the news that attacks on Egypt had been carried out on the western delta border.
