Tlokweng is a city within the South East District in Botswana .

In 2011 Tlokweng had 35,982 inhabitants. In 2001 only 21,133 inhabitants were counted, so that the annual population growth averaged 5.5%. The city is located on the eastern edge of the capital Gaborone , separated by the Notwane River . It is 15 kilometers to the border with South Africa .
history
The place name is derived from the name Batlokwa for a tribe of the Batswana .
Infrastructure
Tlokweng mainly serves as a place of residence for workers in Gaborone. There is an SOS Children's Village in Tlokweng .
The city is on the A12 that connects Gaborone with South Africa.
