Tobias Bachmann

Tobias Bachmann (born November 25, 1977 in Erlangen ) is a German writer and musician.

Life

Bachmann first learned the profession of curative educator, later worked as a musician and freelance author.

In 1998 his first book was published by the small publisher Goblin Press . He mainly writes dark fantasy , but is mostly associated with the horror and science fiction genre, and he also writes crime novels and thrillers .

In 2010 he took part in the literary experiment Hinterland published by Karla Schmidt , an anthology published by Wurdack , for which 20 authors wrote science fiction stories based on music by David Bowie .

In 2011 he founded the Betz-Bachmann Syndrome as a pianist with the guitarist Florian Betz , which moves musically between jazz , dark wave and avant-garde . The musicians themselves describe their music as experimental soundscapes in which music and literature are interwoven. In 2014 the debut album "Der Ruf des Nachtmahrs" was released. In the same year, the duo expanded to a trio with Jupp Colt on bass.

Tobias Bachmann is a member of the Fantastic Authors Network (PAN).

Awards

In 2010, the novel Dagons Erben was awarded the Vincent Prize for the best German-language horror novel of 2009.

The story The Last Telephone Booth from the Hinterland anthology was nominated for the German Science Fiction Prize in 2011 .

In 2017, the limited edition Liebesgrüße aus Arkham was awarded the Vincent Prize for the best story collection of the year.
