Tobias Kammerer
Tobias Kammerer (* 1968 in Rottweil ) is an internationally active church artist.
Life
Tobias Kammerer studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Arik Brauer and Josef Mikl . After completing the magister artium, he studied sculpture with Bruno Gironcoli from 1992 to 1993. The artist specialized in large-scale painting from an early age. His painting style is more likely to be assigned to informal painting (“monumental informel ”). His main focus has become "Art in Architecture". His work for sacred spaces began with glass work. In the meantime Tobias Kammerer has designed many public buildings and churches in Germany and abroad, including the St. Catherine Church in Kiev , St. Pauls Church in Odessa and the baptistery of the Evangelical Free Church Christ Church in Heiligenstadt in Upper Franconia .
Honors
In 1987 Tobias Kammerer received the Arik Brauer Prize (Vienna), the Theodor Körner Prize (Vienna) in 1989 , the Master School Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1992 and the Karl Miescher Prize in Duisburg in 1997. The Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Literature awarded Tobias Kammerer with the pontificate medal in 2000.
