The Kubatrogon or Tocororo ( Priotelus temnurus ) is the national bird of Cuba . Its plumage in the colors red, blue and white corresponds to the colors of the Cuban national flag. He is on the two islands of the Greater Antilles Cuba and the Isla de la Juventud endemic .
features
Cubatrogons reach 25 to 28 cm in length. Males and females are colored similarly. In contrast to the similar rose trogon ( Priotelus roseigaster ), the head is blue-violet with a white throat. The short and broad beak is dark on top and reddish on the underside. The chest is dull gray, the belly red. The back is green with striking white stripes and spots on the wings. The tail is long, ends jagged, and is predominantly white on the underside.
The singing consists of a mostly repeated “toc-coro” or “toc co-loro”.
Way of life
The species inhabits dry and moist, preferably shady forests at all altitudes. It breeds in tree hollows. The clutch consists of 3–4 white eggs.

Existence and endangerment
There is no information on the size of the world population, but the species is relatively common and the population is considered stable. It is therefore classified by the IUCN as (= least concern - not endangered).
