Todor Samodumov

Todor Michailow Samodumow ( Bulgarian Тодор Михайлов Самодумов ; born March 18, 1878 in Dupnitsa ; † September 2, 1957 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian educator.

Life

Samodumov studied philosophy and education in Sofia. In 1914 he joined the Bulgarian Social Democratic Labor Party . From 1949 he worked as a professor at the University of Sofia . From 1952 to 1957 he held the position of director of the Institute for Pedagogy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

In his scientific work he turned against racial ideological approaches in education and campaigned for the creation of a polytechnical vocational school. He was awarded the Dimitrov Prize .
