Todrick Hall (born April 4, 1985 in Plainview , Texas , USA ) is an American singer , actor , dancer , choreographer and web video producer .

Career

Todrick Hall became known through the 9th season of American Idol , where he reached the semifinals. Since then he has become known to a wider audience as a Broadway and YouTube star, as well as a jury member at RuPaul's Drag Race .

Hall is a baritone , also sings falsetto and raps. His repertoire includes R&B, pop, hip-hop, neo-soul, funk and, last but not least, the musical theater. Many of his texts contain a social criticism , for example against gun violence and racism or for a queer culture. Hall usually writes and produces his own music and also produces mash-ups with songs by his idols Lady Gaga , Rihanna and Taylor Swift .

Hall's music videos impress with their extravagance, both in terms of costumes and choreographies and sets. Many costumes are own creations. Hall sees himself as a representative of queer culture and often integrates drag as a central component in his music videos. Among the more famous drag queens who have been involved in his music videos, among other RuPaul , Shangela Laquifa Wadley , Bob the drag queen , Willam Belli and Alaska Thunderfuck .

From November 1, 2016 to March 1, 2017, Hall played the role of Lola in the musical Kinky Boots on Broadway .

In the music video of Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do , released in August 2017, Hall starred as a background dancer.

Hall's fans affectionately refer to themselves as "Toddlerz".
