Tom Bengt Englén (born February 19, 1969 in Växjö ) is a Swedish beach volleyball player .

Career

Englén played his first international tournament in 1991 at the Almería Open, where he finished 18th with Fredrik Peterson . In 1994 the two Swedes returned to the world tour in Carolina . In 1995, when they finished seventh at the Espinho Open, they reached the top ten for the first time at a World Tour tournament. At the end of the year they were able to repeat the result in Cape Town . In the 1996 World Tour they came in 13th in Hermosa Beach . Englén / Peterson also qualified for the Olympic Games in Atlanta . There they lost their first game against the Cubans Álvarez / Rosell . In the loser round, they were defeated by the Canadian duo Child / Heese and were eliminated. After the Olympic tournament, they came 13th at the Grand Slam in Pornichet and at the tournament in Jakarta ; in Carolina they finished ninth.

In 1997 they reached the 17th place four times and a ninth place at the Tenerife Open. Then they took part in the World Cup in Los Angeles . However, they did not get beyond 33rd place.

In 1998 Englén formed a new duo with Niclas Tornberg . With his new partner, however, he did not get past 33rd place on the World Tour. Only as third of the Challenger tournament in Albena could he still achieve a top placement. He completed his last tournament at the Marseille Open 2000 with Mikael Oestberg .
