Thomas Lynch "Tom" Moore (born July 25, 1936 in Trimdon ) is a former English football player .

Career

Moore played in 1950/51 for the school selection of County Durhams as a representative of the Kelloe School Football Association . He later worked as a goalkeeper in his native Trimdon for Trimdon Grange in the Wearside League and was counted in September 1956 by the Northern Daily Mail among the "stars" of the team. He made appearances for the team at least until mid-February 1957, and in one of his last missions a correspondent noted: “Goalkeeper Tom Moore was a top performer on the defensive. He was flawless in everything he did and there were repeated cheers in recognition of great parades. "

Already registered as an amateur with Darlington FC as a player in the Football League , he subsequently guarded the goal for the reserve of Darlington FC in the North Eastern League . Because both professional goalkeepers of the club ( Ron Ward and Tommy Clish ) were injured in April 1957, Moore came in the Football League Third Division North at the home game against York City to a use in the professional team. In the 2: 4 defeat he did not show a convincing performance, in particular the second goal was conceded by the press. In the following game, coach Bobby Gurney relied on 17-year-old John Tennant as the goalkeeper.

At the end of 1957 Moore appeared again in the Wearside League at Wingate Welfare , the team was still without a win of the season on this point and had lost the previous 16 games. In 1959, his name appeared in match reports from Winterton Hospital , a Ferryhill & District League club .
