Tom Rand

Tom Rand (born before 1975) is a British costume designer .

Life

Rand initially worked at regional ensemble theaters , then he was assistant costume designer in London at the Royal Court Theater , West End theaters and the Old Vic , led by Laurence Olivier . During this time he worked on productions by Noël Coward and John Gielgud .

In the mid-1970s he switched to the film business. He was nominated for the British Academy Film Award for his first feature film work for Ridley Scott's debut film The Duelists . In 1982 he received an Oscar nomination in the Best Costume Design category for Karel Reisz 's Die Geliebte des French Lieutenant .

In 1987 he returned to the theater and worked again at the Old Vic, Victoria Palace and the Royal Exchange Theater in Manchester . He worked extensively with Harold Pinter on productions for Twelve Angry Men , Taking Sides and Ashes to Ashes , among others . From the early 1990s to 2002 he worked on other feature films such as Princess Caraboo , Innocent Lies and The Bridge of Ambreville .
