Tom Skinner (jazz musician)
Tom Skinner (born January 26, 1980 in London ) is a British jazz drummer. Skinner began playing the drums at the age of nine and attended workshops at Weekend Arts College in London between 1993 and 1996 . In 1998 he became a member of Gary Crosby's Tomorrow’s Warriors , where he worked for four years with Soweto Kinch , Dave Okumu , Andrew McCormac and Tom Herbert and performed at the London Jazz Café .
Also in 1998 he became a member of the Denys Baptiste Quartet , with which he recorded two albums. He also worked with the quartets of Byron Wallen , Ingrid Laubrock and Martin Speake , with the singer Cleveland Watkiss , the hip-hop group Task Force , with Jean Toussaint , Stanley Turrentine , Branford Marsalis , Dusko Goykovich and the African Mbiraspieler Chartwell Dutiro together . Skinner leads the group Jade Fox together with Dave Okumu and Tom Herbert , he is also a member of the F-ire Collective and of Byron Wallen's group Indigo .
