Tomašica is a district of the large municipality of Prijedor in the Republika Srpska in the north-west of Bosnia and Herzegovina with 435 inhabitants (as of 2013).

The place is well integrated in the Bosnian road network and is 18 kilometers south of Prijedor.

Mass graves from Tomašica
In August 2013, countless bodies were found in Tomašica by Bosnian authorities. The remains found are victims of the Bosnian War . With the find in 2013, many relatives hoped to finally be able to bury their missing family members after 20 years. In this case, forensic medicine went to great lengths to determine the DNA of the corpses in order to establish the identity of the victims. In the Srebrenica massacre on July 11, 1995, this was not so easy as attempts were made to cover up the crime.

Summers are hot with temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius. The winters are usually very cold.
