Tomasz Piotr Nowak (born December 22, 1956 in Kwidzyn ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska (PO) and a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in the V. , VI. , VII. And VIII. Electoral term (since 2005).

Tomasz Nowak studied Polish philology with a focus on theater and graduated in 1979 from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Gdansk . This was followed by postgraduate studies in public relations at the University of Management and Banking in Poznan (1999) and postgraduate studies in administrative sciences at Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie (2014).

Professional background

After studying Polish Philology, Nowak worked as a theater teacher in the Konin cultural center until 1986 and then took over the management of the Oskard mining culture house in Konin until 1992. From 1990 Nowak worked as an entrepreneur in Konin, among other things as a co-owner of the video rental company "Video Świat" and co-owner of the PR agency CN Public Relations.

Political career

Nowak was independent until 2000 and joined the newly founded Platforma Obywatelska in 2001 and was a board member of the party in the Greater Poland Voivodeship until 2010 .

In the parliamentary elections in 2005 he ran for a seat in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in constituency No. 37 on list number 1 of the election committee KW Platforma Obywatelska RP . With 9,559 (4.38%) of the valid votes cast, he received the most votes on the PO electoral list and was able to win two of the new mandates in the constituency for Platforma Obywatelska together with Paweł Arndt . During the fifth electoral term he was a member of the Committee on National and Ethnic Minorities, the Committee on Social Policy (from November 9th to December 9th, 2015) and the Labor Committee (from December 9th).

In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 Nowak stepped again in constituency 37 and again on list number 1 of the Platforma Obywatelska. In this election he was able to expand his electoral success with 28,279 (9.50%) of the valid votes cast compared to the last election and win three of the nine seats in the constituency together with Paweł Arndt and Irena Tomaszak-Zesiuk ; just as many as Prawo i Sprawiedliwość .
