Thomas "Tommy" Dunderdale (born May 6, 1887 in Benalla , Australia ; † December 15, 1960 in Winnipeg , Manitoba , Canada ) was a professional Australian - Canadian ice hockey player who worked for the Montreal from 1905 to 1924, among others Shamrocks and Quebec Bulldogs in the National Hockey Association .

Career

Tommy Dunderdale, who emigrated to Canada at the age of 17 , began his career as a hockey player in the Manitoba Professional Hockey League , where he was active from 1905 to 1909 for the Winnipeg Ramblers, Winnipeg Strathconas, Winnipeg Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Shamrocks. The attacker then moved to the National Hockey Association , the predecessor league of the National Hockey League , in which he played for one year each for the Montreal Shamrocks and Quebec Bulldogs . From 1911 to 1923, the right- shooter was on the ice for the Victoria Aristocrats (from 1921 Victoria Cougars) and Portland Rosebuds, where he won the PCHA championship with Victoria in 1914.

Dunderdale was one of the PCHA's best players and was elected to the league's All-Star Team six times. He ended his career following the 1923/24 season with the Saskatoon Crescents and Edmonton Eskimos from the Western Canada Hockey League . As the first and only Australian, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974.
