Tommy Lee Hottovy (born July 9, 1981 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is a retired American baseball player .

Career

In 2004, Hottovy began his career with the Lowell Spinners, a minor league team of the Red Sox. The following season he moved to the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In 2006 he moved to Portland during the season and achieved an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 3.15 with 10 wins and 10 losses. He played for the Portland Seadogs in 2007 and 2008 and has been a relief pitcher since 2009. From 2009 to 2011 he played for Lowell, Portland and the Pawtucket Red Sox , completed a total of 76 games and allowed 63 runs in 136.1 innings .

On June 3, 2011, Hottovy made his debut for the Red Sox against the Oakland Athletics . He made eight games for the Red Sox.

In 2012 he moved to the Kansas City Royals , for whom he appeared nine times. On October 1, 2012, he ended his active career with the Kansas City Royals.
