Tommy Hunter (musician)

Tommy Hunter , CM , O.Ont (* 20th March 1937 as Thomas James Hunter in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian country musician who in 1965 almost three decades, the television show The Tommy Hunter Show moderated.

Tommy Hunter first appeared at the age of fourteen on the radio station CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). He should remain connected to this station throughout his musical life. After a few years of restless wandering, he joined the TV show Country Hoedown in 1956 , where he first played the guitar and later became a singer.

From 1962 he had his own radio show, the daily aired Tommy Hunter Show . From 1965 the show was taken over by television, where it was broadcast on Saturday evenings until 1992. At twenty-seven years, it was the longest-running country music television series of all time. Mostly Canadian musicians took part, but there were also guest appearances by American stars.

In addition to his television work, Hunter recorded a number of long-playing records and singles, but these were not particularly successful. He also appeared in the Grand Ole Opry .
