Tommy Gayle Pool (born February 10, 1935 in Bowie - † July 7, 1990 ) was an American marksman .

successes

Tommy Pool took part in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in two disciplines with the small bore rifle. In the three-position battle, he finished sixth with 1147 points. In the prone position he scored 596 points, one point less than the two first-placed László Hammerl and Lones Wigger and thus won the bronze medal. As early as 1962 was pool in the individual with the Free Rifle in the standing position and in the team competition with the small-bore rifle in the standing position World Champion . In addition, he secured two silver and three bronze medals at this world championship. Four years later followed in WiesbadenTitle wins with the small-caliber team in the three-position fight and in the kneeling position. In the standing position, he took third place with her. Pool served for many years in the US Army in the sniper unit and was also active there as a trainer and instructor. He served 16 years in active service and another 15 years in the reserve. He took his leave with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel .
