Tommy Shardelow

Thomas Frederick "Tommy" Shardelow (born November 11, 1931 in Durban ) is a former South African track cyclist .

Tommy Shardelow started twice in the Olympics. In 1952 he won two silver medals in Helsinki , in the tandem race with Raymond Robinson and with the South African track four ( Jimmy Swift , Robert Fowler , George Estman ) in the team pursuit . At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver in 1954 , he was third in the sprint. In 1956, at the Olympic Games in Melbourne , he started again with Robinson on the tandem, but the duo was eliminated in the second round. In the sprint , Shardelow did not get past the first lap.
