Tomohon is a city on the island of Sulawesi with approx. 90,000 inhabitants in the province of Sulawesi Utara , Indonesia , approx. 25 km south of Manado . Until 2003 it belonged to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Minahasa , today it is subordinate to the provincial government as a city ( Kota ). The city lies at the foot of Gunung Lokon .
